Photographer Benoit Paillé’s created a series entitled ‘Alternative Landscapes’ as a contrast to natural space and how it is commonly oriented in photographs.

By using a 1x1 meter light box as his only materials, the Montreal based photographer carries through a theme of illumination in what would typically be simple landscape photography.

By illuminating the surrounding areas with a white light, the work presents an otherworldly aesthetic almost like looking into a different realm. The photographs seem like a glowing canvas for the imagination or an advertisement for the ethereal where Paillé’s intent is to “redefine the space/landscape” and “question the reality of what is a landscape.”
