Leaving your bike outdoors amongst the damn bike thieves of the world is not a good option, but our ever-shrinking living spaces make it difficult to accommodate bike storage indoors. Problem solved.

The Very Nice Bike Rack is exactly the kind of household infrastructure I’m looking for: something clearly functional that also compliments my style. Designed by Daniel Ballou, a California-based industrial designer and the founder of design-consultancy firm dashdot, the bike racks come in both the wall rack and floor stand models. The wall rack can hold approximately 25 lbs of weight and is best for bikes with horizontal top tubes, while the floor stand version comes with adjustable felt spacer pads to accommodate a variety of wheel sizes.

I’m realizing that my search for a bike is sprawling in a variety of different bike-related directions–the lock, the seat, the handle bars, the basket. OK, maybe not the basket. But as I learn more about what I need and what I want for my bike, the need for an amazing interior bike rack like the ones designed by Daniel Ballou is clear.
