Even the most diligent can find it hard to keep up with fashion, design, and sports culture. So in case you missed it, here are the most notable events from the past week.

Timeout: Your Weekly Sports Round-Up (Week 9)

March 4th, 2012 – Rajon Rondo hung a video game stat line on the Knicks on Sunday. It was his 2nd triple double in 3 games, 4th triple double of the season, and only the 3rd time in history that a triple double involved a line with seventeen(+) points, assists, and rebounds. The other two? Magic Johnson (24 points, 17 rebounds, 17 assists) and Wilt Chamberlain (22 points, 25 rebounds, 21 assists). Read More

March 2nd, 2012 – In an effort to even the playing field, Major League Baseball has decided to expand this years playoffs to include 2 additional wild card teams. The MLB: where a 162 game season culminates into 1 sudden death playoff and agony to the loser. Jokes aside, the change is welcome, and should add a needed buzz to the Fall Classic. Could 2012 be the 1st time a 3rd place team wins the World Series? Read More

March 1st, 2012 – In case the Bobcats’ 4-31 record didn’t clue you into MJ’s ownership shortcomings, this week Charles Barkley offered his advice on how to remedy the situation: stop hiring yes men. “I love Michael, but he just has not done a good job,” Barkley said. “Even though he is one of my great friends, I can't get on here and tell you he’s done a great job. He has not done a great job, plain and simple.”

For a guy who’s made a career of remembering slights, hopefully MJ sees something in Barkley’s words. Not only were they rude... they were sensible. Read More

March 1st, 2012 – The NFL recently discovered the Saints, during their 2009 Superbowl run, had a bounty hunting system that rewarded defensive players for injuring the opposing team. Among the notables on the hit list: Brett Favre. It’s no secret that the NFL’s punishments will be harsh, and is in fact expected to be heavier than what the Patriots’ received for Spygate. But correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t putting defensive incentives into a player’s contract part of the game? Players either think yes, or no, but they voiced their opinions on the very public forum known as Twitter. Read More

February 28th, 2012 – In an act of arrogance (or fear, as Pacquiao supporters like to think), Floyd Mayweather states that the recent talks for a Pacquiao showdown fell apart due to Pacquiao asking for a 50-50 split of the revenue. Tell you what Mayweather, if you could have a showcase with only yourself that brings in two hundred million, then I’ll consider this comment valid. But for now, I blame you for what we’re left with: Mayweather vs Cotto, and Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley (yawn). Read More
